Former JVP Parliamentarian Dimuth Abeykoon along with his supporters yesterday met President Maithripala Sirisena at President’s House in Kandy and obtained Sri Lanka Freedom Party membership.
SLFP Senkadagala Organiser and Central Provincial Councilor Thilina Bandara Thennakoon organised this meeting.
Former Kandy Municipal Council JVP member Anura Kumara Gonawala, former Pathahewaheta Pradeshiya Sabha member Hemantha Kumara and Sampath Thilakasiri obtained SLFP membership on this occasion.
They are to contest at the upcoming Local Government election under the SLFP banner.Thennakoon said that a group of former Parliamentarians representing the Joint Opposition will join the SLFP and extend support to the Presdient after the Local Government election dates are fixed.Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake and Provincial Minister Ediriweera Weerawardena were also present.
