Provide jobs to all unemployed graduates - SLFP Youth Front

Sri Lanka Freedom Party Youth Front (SLFPYF) has urged President Maithripala Sirisena to draft a proper methodology to provide employment to graduates based on their qualifications.

"We have been informed that there are attempts to provide jobs only for graduates who are supporters of certain politicians. However, this will lead to youth frustration,” SLFPYF Chairman Shantha Bandara said.

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday, he said that there should be a proper methodology to provide employment to all qualified graduates irrespective of party affiliations.

"It was the SLFP led government which provided a large number of job opportunities for graduates in 2004 as well as 2012. Graduate unemployment in Sri Lanka is a national problem and the government must have a proper plan to address the issue, Bandara said. He said the SLFPYF requests the Maha Sangha not to engage in verbal battles openly that can lead problems in society. We urge the Maha Sangha to refrain from using the Saffron robe to strengthen the political power and create clashes in society for ulterior objectives.
