PM to meet a host of economic agencies in Finland

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who is on an official visit to Finland met with officials from the Finnvera, Nordic Investment Bank and Outotec organizations

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who arrived in Finland on Sunday (08) will conduct a series of meetings with several economic agencies with the aim of further developing the economic ties between the two countries.

Premier Wickremesinghe yesterday said that the main purpose of the visit was to invite more entrepreneurs to Sri Lanka in order to have a more productive connection between the two countries.

He made this observation after having a discussion with the heads of three of the largest entrepreneurs’ organizations based in Finland. The officials were representatives of Finnvera, Nordic Investment Bank and Outotec organizations.

The officials explained the Prime Minister about projects and services that can be offered by those organizations.

They further explained about investments and projects that they can carry out in Sri Lanka.

The discussion was mainly focused on investment, financial grants, the use of garbage produce electricity and supply of drinking water.

Details about drinking water supply projects carried out in Sri Lanka by Outotec organization since 1990 were brought to the Prime Minister’s attention. Ports and Shipping Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe, Secretary to the Prime Minister Saman Ekanayake, Ambassador to Norway Jayantha Palipana, Prime Minister’s Additional Secretary Saman Athaudahetti and Special Assistant Sandra Perera were also present.
