Five suspects who abducted a doctor for ransom were arrested yesterday (07).
The five suspects are alleged to have conned the doctor by posing off as Anti-Corruption Unit Ofiicers of the Walana Police and robbing a gold ring and Rs.2600. The suspects had also demanded Rs.100,000 from the abducted man as well. The abduction took place last Friday.
The doctor is a resident of Colombo 7. A three wheeler used in the abduction was also seized. The suspects who are in the 38,35,17,27,50 age groups include three males and two females, They are residents of the Panadura area. The arrested were produced before the Aluthkade Magistrate. Kurunduwatte Police is investigating.
