Uva Provincial Council defeats the 20th Amendment to Constitution

 

The proposed 20th Amendment to Constitution to hold Provincial Council (PC) polls within one day was defeated at Uva Provincial Council today.
 
The proposal was defeated with 12 votes against the decision and 5 votes in favour of the decision.
 
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe proposed the 20th Amendment to the Constitution in order to hold Provincial Council elections on the same day.
 
The amendment is assured to make a positive impact on financial resources and to ensure democracy.
