Retired Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Bodhipala Malagalla Liyanage passed away yesterday after a brief illness. He was 69.
Bodhi Liyanage joined the Sri Lanka Police Service in 1974 as a trainee ASP and held various positions during his 34-year service.
Liyanage held the post of Senior DIG Administration when he retired in 2008. He served in the Vavuniya, Trincomalee, and Ampara district during the height of war and led the police force to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation.
His remains lie at his residence No 74/ b, Kahalla, Katugastota and the funeral will take place tomorrow (Sunday) at the Mahiyawa Public Cemetery.
