Foreign Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayake this afternoon publicly tendered his resignation in light of the allegations surrounding him in the bond controversy.
In a special statement in Parliament the Foreign Affairs Minister defended himself but said that he would resign ‘for democracy and good governance.’
“I used my position to serve the people. I never abused my power.” the Foreign Minister said, adding that many politicians – including those in the Joint Opposition (JO) knew that he was an honourable politician.
