The Cabinet has approved setting up of the National Economic Council proposed by President Maithripala Sirisena.
The Council will be an advisory body to the Cabinet on all economic affairs of the country. The President has directed his Secretary Austin Fernando to work together with the Prime Minister’s Secretary to make the draft on National Economic Council. The formulation of National Economic Council is based on advice and proposals of economic experts.
