Local government elections in December or January: Rajitha

 

The Local Government Election is most likely to be held before the December 12 or in the first week of January, said Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Rajitha Senaratne today.

Minister also said that the Local Authorities Elections (Amendment) Bill that was passed in parliament recently is to be endorsed by the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya tomorrow.

He also said that the elections could be held before the GCE (O/L) examination or immediately  after the examination is over.

He made these statements today day responding to journalists' queries during the Cabinet briefing held at the Information Department Auditorium

Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Gayantha Karunathilake and Army Spokesman Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne were also present at the occasion.
