Locomotive Engineering Operators Union (LEOU) is due to launch a strike today, midnight.
LEOU Secretary Indika Dodangoda said that the strike is in protest of functioning Chinese power sets with poor break systems and for failing to appoint Engine Drivers to relevant co-workers according to the Railway Department procedure.
Accordingly, the LEOU will refrain from functioning train services by Chinese locomotives.
