A couple who allegedly involved in smuggling heroin was arrested by the Matara Divisional Crime Investigation (CID).
According to the police, the suspect couple was arrested while they were in an attempt of selling heroin to someone in Delkada, Matara.
The suspects were identified as husband and wife of a two children.
However while conducting further investigations the Police had recovered 1000 milligrams of heroin which was hidden in the bra of the woman and also another 350 milligrams of heroin was found in the under wear of the suspect.
It was further disclosed that the suspect couple had been engaged in this illegal business in areas such as Gandara, Devundara, Devinuwara, and Matara for a period of time.
It was also unveiled that the suspect was produced to the Matara Magistrate Courts in a previous occasion for two pending cases related to allegations of keeping heroin under his possession.
The suspect couple will to be produced to the Matara Magistrate Courts again.
Matara Police is investigating.
