GMOA, Health Ministry pledge to work in tandem

Discussions between new Health Ministry Secretary Janaka Sugathadasa and newly elected Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) officials have been positive.

GMOA media spokesman Dr. Samantha Ananda said the Ministry Secretary pledged to work closely with the GMOA to develop the health sector and uplift patient care with a focus on equal opportunities to healthcare by all sectors of the population. “We elaborated the fact that the patient is the most important person in a medical care system and must be recognised by all those who work in the system.

It is the responsibility of health authorities to improve the health and well-being of local people.We explained the importance of creating conducive environment for doctors to do their work properly.Therefore, we discussed several problems which have commonly affected the entire health sector including doctors and patients. We appreciate his positive response to these issues,”Ananda said.
