A warrant was issued against Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana’s son Osada Yapa Abeywardana by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court, a short while ago.
The order was issued after Osanda Yapa failed to appear for the court hearing on the road accident which took place on December 18.
Cinnamon Gardens Police alleged that the Jeep driven by Osada Yapa Abeywardena met with the accident near the Nelum Pokuna theatre, causing severe injuries to a motorcycle rider living in Colombo 10.
The Police charged him for several traffic offences including reckless driving, failing to avoid getting into a traffic accident and driving a vehicle without a valid license.
Osanda Yapa is currently released on bail.
