The main suspect who rode the motor bicycle with a gunman that killed a Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officer and a bystander and injured several others in Piliyandala was arrested hiding in a house in Meegaswewa in Polonnaruwa yesterday.
Officers attached to the Mirihana Special Crime Operation Unit arrested the suspect identified as Sujeewa Ruwan Kumara, an army deserter. The suspect was infamous in his home town in Ahungalla as Loku Patee.
The police have also recovered heroin in his possession.The suspect was ordered to be remanded after being produced before the Mathugama Chief Magistrate.
