Police arrest two IUSF anti-SAITM protestors

 

Police arrested two suspects of the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) yesterday for allegedly entering into the Health Ministry premises and damaging property on June 21.

Out of the two suspects, twenty-four-year-old Art student, Konara Mudiyanselage Dinesh Maduranga was arrested by Siyambaladuwa Police.

Dinesh Maduranga has returned to his residents in Dombagahawela after taking part in the IUSF protest against legalising the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine.

He will be produced before the Siyambalanduwa Courts today.

The second suspect, twenty-two-year-old Mallawathanthirige Dimuthu Lakshan, residing in Kataana was arrested by Colombo Central Police.

Dimuthu Lankashan is also alleged to have engaged in state antagonism acts and for being involved with a state antagonism group.

He will be produced before the Maligakanda Courts today.

Further investigations are underway.
