OIC, four cops, five others further remanded over robbery

Five policemen, including former Borella Anti-Vice Squad OIC and another four civilians, arrested for alleged robberies of a stock of lightning conductors and gold jewellery worth Rs. 550,000 were further remanded till July 12 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara yesterday.

The Cinnamon Gardens Police said the robbery had occurred while the concerned items belonging to Western Provincial Council member Royce Fernando was being transported to Colombo by two of his employees to be sold. At a previous occasion, Police arrested five policemen, including former Borella Anti-Vice Squad OIC and the Borella Police traffic branch OIC.

Counsel Asela Rekawa appeared for the OIC.
