A motorcyclist, who knocked down a 58-year-old man injuring him severely at Wijerama Junction on the High Level Road, was arrested by Mirihana Police traffic branch, recently.
According to Mirihana Traffic Branch, the injured is identified as Jayasinghe Mudiyanselage Piyaratne, a resident of Kelanimulla, Angoda. He is receiving treatment at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital Intensive Care Unit, Kalubowila.
The motorcyclist, a resident of Mihira Mawatha, Makuludoowa, Piliyandala, is an Information Technology Officer working at a private company. He was granted two personal bails worth Rs. 100,000 each after he was produced before the Gangodawila Chief Magistrate June 21.
The Magistrate further ordered the suspect to produce a certificate about his physical fitness to ride motorcycles from the Medical Council of the Transport Board, Nugegoda at the next hearing on June 30. Mirihana Police are investigating.
