Indian company donates heavy duty dewatering pumps

Kirloskar Brothers Limited, a leading water pump manufacturing company of India, handed over two state of the art portable heavy duty dewatering pumps to Disaster Management Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa at the Ministry.This donation is part of the continued assistance by Indian companies in Sri Lanka following the recent floods to help strengthen disaster preparedness in Sri Lanka.Deputy Indian High Commissioner Arindam Bagchi, Kirloskar Brothers representative Abhijit Deshpande and Disaster Management Ministry Secretary S.S. Miyanawala were present.

The cost of the two pumps is around Rs 7 million and the pump has a water removal capacity of 50 litres per second. These pumps can be towed to a site for immediate use during an emergency and do not require electricity or mounting equipment.
