Multiple crimes during 1989 period:
Four accused of involving in a number of crimes during the 1989 insurgency were acquitted of all charges against them by Kurunegala High Court Judge Menaka Wijesundara, yesterday. They were indicted by the Attorney General for assembling unlawfully and engaging in crimes in 1989.
The second accused in the case died about four years ago.
Ariya B. Rekawa PC, who appeared for the defence, said the prosecution party was unable to prove the charges against the accused.
