The Cabinet of Ministers yesterday decided to increase Sri Lanka Transport Board and private bus fares by 6.28 per cent from July 1, 2017, Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva told the Daily News yesterday
Accordingly the minimum bus fare of Rs. 9 will be increased by one rupee.The minimum bus fare will be Rs. 10 from July 1.
He said that National Transport Commission will make announcement on how the bus fare revision will happen in future.
“The Cabinet has also decided to introduce the national transport policy on bus fares, before bus fares are increased next year”, the minister said.
