WHO Director General pledges to support Sri Lanka’s Health sector

World Health Organization Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus pledged to support Sri Lanka’s Health sector today.

The WHO Director General said this to Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne at a special meeting held in parallel to the WHO Executive Council meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

Minister Senaratne will attend the WHO Council’s meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, today and tomorrow.

Members from four Asian countries received appointments for the council this year and Minister Senaratne is one of them, the Health Ministry Media spokesperson said.  

According to the spokesman, 34 members were appointed into the Executive Council for a period of two years.

The appointed members are professionals with technical knowledge.
