President Maithripala Sirisena assured the government is taking all relief efforts to assist all individuals affected by the floods and landslides and bring their life back to normal.
He was participating at the function held yesterday after UPFA General Secretary and Fisheries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera assumed duties as Mahaweli Development State Minister.
“Though there are criticisms levelled against the government, measures have already been taken to rehabilitate all the damaged houses, schools, hospitals and infrastructure facilities of the disaster affected areas,”the President said.
The President also paid tribute to all state officials, three forces, Sri Lanka Police, Civil Defence Force and government and private media institutions for their efforts to assist disaster affected families.
