The Election Committee announced today it would keep former UPFA Galle District MP Geetha Kumarasinghe’s seat vacant till a Supreme Court verdict is made.
Earlier today the Supreme Court issued a stay order till May 15 on the decision made by the Appeal Court to disqualify the MP post of Geetha Kumarasinghe.
UPFA General Secretary and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said on May 3 that Piyasena Gamage is next in line to be appointed to the Parliament seat rendered vacant with the disqualification of Kumarasinghe.
