Senior Lake House journalist and former Sarasaviya Editor Sunil Mihidukula passed away yesterday after a brief illness.
An author and popular film critic, Mihidukula rendered an invaluable service to uplift Sinhala cinema industry for decades. He authored a number of books relating to the cinema industry. He has also written thousands of articles on various aspects of the film industry in his long journalistic career.
Mihindukula succeeded in convincing the authorities to bring positive changes to the industry through his articles. He leaves his wife Suranji Karunathilake, an information officer attached to the Information Department and four children.
Mihindukula’s remains are lying at his residence at No. 950, Pethum Uyana, Rukmalgama. Cremation takes place tomorrow (June 1) at the Rukmalgama Cemetery at 3 p.m.
