The Cabinet decided to permit private sector to import rice due to the rapid increase in price of rice in domestic market.
This decision was taken to make relief to public without affecting domestic farmers.
Cabinet Ministers has further decided that the Cabinet Subcommittee should decide the amount of rice to be imported.
