State Oil Anointing ceremony at the Natha Devalaya

The Sinhala and Hindu New Year oil anointing State Ceremony will be held at the historic Natha Devalaya premises in Kandy at 11.04 a.m on April 15 with President Maithripala Sirisena as the Chief Guest. Basnayake Nilame of the Kandy Natha Devalaya Gayan Heenkenda said the ceremony is organised at the Devalaya premises under the patronage of the Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters. In keeping with a request made by Central Province Governor Niluka Ekanayake to select Kandy as the venue of the National oil anointing ceremony the government had decided to conduct this ceremony at the Natha Devalaya premises in the future.

The anointing ceremony is organised by the Department of Ayurveda coming under the purview of the Health and Indigenous Medicine Ministry.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and several other Ministers and MPs are due to attend this year’s ceremony.
