SLAWC to recommence

The world’s first association for Welfare of Centenarians (Sri Lanka) – the Sri Lanka Association for Welfare of Centenarians (SLAWC) which was started in April 2009 under the chairmanship of Prof. Colvin Gooneratne and was closed down for financial reasons will recommence activities from April 22.

A press conference will be held on this day at the SLMA office building in Wijerama Mawatha to announce it to the public, states the association’s secretary Edward Arambawela.

It will be presided over by its new president Mihiri Wickremarachchi, head of the institute in Nugegoda.

The constitution of the association will be distributed to the media at this meeting among other material.
