The death toll at the Meethotamulla garbage dump has risen to 10.
Many more are feared buried under the rubble.
A section of the garbage dump at Meethotamulla yesterday collapsed on residents burying as many as 40 houses.
President Maithripala Sirisena ordered the tri-forces immediately to engage in rescue operations.
Rescue operations are continuing.
The injured have been taken to the Colombo National Hospital.
